Yesterday kicked off the first interview for my page where I’ll be discussing with various people weekly on separate occasions. This makes Brandon Swindle the first ever victim lol.
Brandon has been developing his physique since high school football in pursuit of size he said. What kicked things off was when he came across a Steve Cook YouTube video. If you don’t know, Cook is one of the most popular fitness influencers out there, and having spoken with Brandon, it looks like he has the right person to look up to. With Cook proving to understand the ins and outs of bodybuilding through his physique and social media, Brandon has a knowledgeable source to go to.
Having known Brandon since my start at Total Fitness Family Center, I can witness the dedication that is a part of his character. Working lengthy shifts, he makes time for his workouts even when he doesn’t want to go sometimes. I feel that, and a lot of other people can relate to this as well. It’s a matter of discipline not motivation, something that fitness teaches. I asked Brandon: “How has working out helped you mentally?” His answer proves that fitness is not only an agent that literally buffs you up, but it also helps you in ways that go beyond your physique:
“It’s helped me be more confident in myself. Not only in the way I look, but the way I feel. It also has helped me set goals and complete them, and set new ones. It also kind of gives me a feeling of being independent because no one can get you big, or shredded unless I put in the work and dedication.”
WOW. Seems like that nail was hit spot on. For someone who is currently slimming down for the summer, I can vouch for his answer. No one is making us drive to the gym, give 100 percent of our effort, and drive back. It’s easier to watch Netflix and drink beer, but the name of the game is to set goals and crush them. I’ve noticed this carries on to other aspects of my life, especially in school. Last semester was the hardest one so far; it marked the end of my junior year, and it reminds me how difficult it is to become a biomedical engineer. If it wasn’t for fitness, it would have been a struggle for me to stay in the Cooper Library until 6:00 o’clock on Friday nights.
Bothering Brandon with one more question (lol) I asked: “What are your biggest fitness aspirations?”
To add on to his dream of developing a well-built physique, Brandon has his eyes on becoming sponsored by an athletic clothing company or supplement company, creating his very own supplement company and workout facility, and stepping on a physique competition’s stage. It will be an amazing time when those dreams become reality. Knowing everything stems from the time invested, the daily effort, and sheer will power, I believe good things are coming.
